A Note From Her

Who is Her?

October 29, 2019

I was born in Nagpur, India and raised in one of the world’s most isolated cities, Perth, Australia – some 7,000 kilometres from my hometown. Currently, I am based in one of the world’s most liveable cities, Melbourne . I moved here  4 years ago when a career opportunity presented itself; what I found instead was the beginning of a much bigger adventure .

As I began to throw myself into my professional life, working for a leading global Management Consulting firm the term “work-life balance” felt like another buzz word being thrown around and far from reality.

I began searching for a ‘go-to’ business journal recommending all the things I was interested in, from the future; tech and design; finance conversations; lifestyle; health and wellness and, of course, fashion. I quickly realised there was no single publication (neither on or offline) that appealed to me, so I created one.

“Her Economy educates, engages and empowers the career-minded woman who’s always on the move through expert opinion, lifestyle, wellness, money, style and beauty news.

From our content, community, curated products and exclusive events, we cover all topics from diversity, beauty, nutrition, sustainability, tech, relationships and matters most important to you! Her Economy is my way to share all the thoughts, ideas, collaborations and design concepts I’ve had along the way.”

My personal economy

I have a Bachelor in Psychology, Criminology & Justice and a Masters in Human Resource Management. My work draws a constant stream of questions across HR tech product and change management, employee experience in the future world of work and workplace wellness.

But it’s not all work. My economy also speaks to aesthetic- and style-minded individuals. I favour instinct over fashion trends and value pieces that are both sentimental and timeless – pieces that can be reworked effortlessly from one season to the next.

As a minimalist, I prefer subtle tones and delicate fabrics, style that is soft, neutral and intentional. My wardrobe has no place for

prints or patterns. For me, it’s always waist clenching silhouettes and high heels. You’ll find colourful cocktail rings, dainty bracelets and androgynous timepieces in my jewellery collection.

Tinkering in all kinds of tech and gadgets for as long as I can remember, my fascination with the Internet of Things (IoT), coding, tech, design and content curation, has enabled me to  become equal parts blogger and coder. While I get a lot of satisfaction from my career and professional journey, I value my play time just as much. Free time is a luxury.

When I have it, I love spending time exploring the city, meeting new and interesting people, fine-tuning my ballet technique, making raw chocolate truffles or sipping tea while reading LinkedIn Pulse, Time, Fast Company and Vogue. And, no matter how busy my day I’ll always find time to visit  Gelato Messina .
